In honor of Small Business Week in San Francisco, neighborhood businesses on Valencia Street will be celebrating all day tomorrow with a sidewalk sale, which means special events, art openings, live music, and much, much more.

We're excited to be hosting a special exhibit in our gallery organized by local artist and entrepreneur Kelly Lynn Jones of Little Paper Planes, as well as celebrating the launch of the Little Paper Planes book with a reception tomorrow from 5-7pm. The book is beautiful, filled with loads of interactive art pieces by artists such as Gemma Correll, Michael Hsiung, Julia Rothman, Alyson Fox, and Lisa Congdon. Original artwork and special edition prints by artists included in the book are on display and available for sale in the shoppe gallery.

We are so excited to announce that the Curiosity Shoppe is partnering with Target as part of their amazing The Shops at Target program!!! We have been hard at work creating a line of over 60 fun, unique, and totally curious accessories for the home. Target's past designer collaborations have been a huge inspiration to us, and we're thriled and honored to be working with them. As part of the second wave of shops in the program, our line of dishwares, stationery, and gifts will launch on September 9th. In the meantime we'll be sharing more details as things progress. Woohoo!!!

It's been pretty chilly and damp in SF the past couple days, so I've been daydreaming about weekend jaunts out of town this summer for some overnight camping trips with Derek & Arrow. I can't wait to bust out our awesome tent and go on hikes with the little guy. We have a box of camping supplies up in the closet that is ready to go at all times, but it isn't nearly as minimal and photogenic as this one from Shelter Co. Isn't it just perfect?

Speaking of camping supplies, SF-based Alite Designs is now offering a service called the Ranger Station, which is a free lending library that includes bunches and bunches of their amazing products for you to borrow on your next camping trip. (Tent, backpacks, chairs, lanterns, cook sets and utensils....) You hear that? It's awesome and it's F-R-E-E!!

A couple weeks ago, we were invited to experiment with a Cricut personal cutting machine, a desktop tool that can cut out intricate shapes onto a variety of materials. We had fun customizing a tea set and making a new paper mobile for Arrow's room, and wrote about it for the newly launched Wired Design blog. You can read our post here!

Please join us this Saturday, April 14th from 6-8pm to celebrate the opening of Illustrated Bites, a new show at the shoppe gallery featuring the work of talented sign painter and artist Heather Diane Hardison!

Heather has been hard at work creating unique, hand painted pieces inspired by her food blog, Illustrated Bites, and we personally can't wait to get our hands on a few of these to hang in our kitchen. She also created a limited edition screen print which will be available on our website this weekend... pics coming soon!

We're thrilled to have the fine folks of In Haus Press in our gallery for the next two weeks. They've brought in a wide array of beautifully letterpressed cards, prints, coasters, and more!! We're especially excited to see the new super swanky leather journals...Man, is there anything they can't do?!?!

This Saturday, March 31st is the Southern Exposure Annual Auction, and we can't wait!! We've been obsessing over some of the artwork posted at their site and have created a little slideshow of a few of the pieces we've got our eyes on! (The crops on these images in the slideshow are funky, so please check out the online preview at SoEx's site). This auction is one of the most fun and fascinating evenings of the year with such fantastic art and fantastic people. We really hope all of you will join us this Saturday and help support the most ambitious and generous art organziation around!

We're so thrilled for our friends Lisa Congdon, Grace Hawthorne, and the boys over at Woodshop (Jeff, Danny, Josh, Luke), who have all created amazing pieces for the new exhibit "Do Not Destory: Trees, Art, and Jewish Thought" that just opened at the Contemporary Jewish Museum. (Oh, there are also pieces by a couple of other artists: Yoko Ono, Joseph Beuys...) The show is up through May 28th, and we recommend you go see it over and over and over again. Not just because the work is great and the museum is a fantastic place to see fantastic art, but because the wonderful people at CJM have invited us to invite you to get in with a special 2-fo-1 ticket offer. And we're very excited to tell you that we will be hosting an interactive workshop at the museum's RitLab on March 22nd. We'll be guiding folks along as they create their own portable placemats (perfect for picnics, dinner parties, or sophisticated snackin' on the couch). The event is free with museum admission and there will be food and music and good people and good times!
