Target Collection Preview Party!!!

WOW!! That was SO MUCH FUN!!! On Wednesday evening we invited a bunch of friends from our favorite blogs, mags, newspapers, etc. for a special sneak peek at our upcoming line at Target. Our fantastic guests have done such an amazing job sharing their experiences that we encourage you to check them out for yourself (Here's Victoria at sfgirlbybay, and our co-hosts Anthology, and the lovely ladies at Refinery 29, and our new friend Anne at The City Sage, just to name a few...)

We simply wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended, and all the amazing people whose hard work made such an unforgettable and remarkable evening possible:

-Anthology. One of our favorite magazines ever, created be some of the smartest, coolest, most amazing women around. It's always a pleasure to be associated with this fantastic publication.
-Amy Zaroff and her events team created an evening that was above and beyond our wildest expectations. Every little detail (and there were A LOT of them) was so thoughtfully and elegantly executed that it felt like a second wedding to us!
-Blair Warsham of graffEats created the most insanely delicious and imaginative food we've ever had at a party (and we've partied with the best of them...)! Corn succotash! Lobster rolls! BBQ pork sliders! Peach bruscheta! Mini fruit pies! S'mores! Cookies and bourbon milk! + More! Unreal!!!
-The Stable Cafe is our favorite cafe in the Mission with its delicious food and drink and unbeatable atmosphere. We would live there if they'd let us! Their staff was utterly charming and attentive and made sure everyone had either food or drink in hand at all times.
-Gaucho. We can't believe Gaucho was there! The best gypsy jazz band EVER! Go see them every Wednesday night at Amnesia! Buy their new cd!
-It seemed like every available surface was graced with a gorgeous and unique arrangement from Lila B. We're surprised no fights broke out over who got to take home the bouquets. Luckily there were plenty to go around!
-People got crazy with the always fun Glass Coat Photo Booth. You can check out some of the pictures over on Anthology's Facebook page. HI-larious!!
-DIY Queen Kelly Malone of Workshop and her awesome team created tons of ridiculously amazing signage and decor for the event.

Last but certainly not least...None of this would have been possible were it not for all of our new friends at Target. So fun, so nice, so professional, so smart and talented.

We feel very lucky and honored and blessed to know everyone who came. Thanks so much to all of you!!!

In the meantime, if you're interested in tagging along on the rest of our Target Adventure, we'll be posting about it here, and sharing lots of pretty pictures on our Instagram account (curiosity_shoppe).

AND DON'T FORGET!!! THE CURIOSITY SHOPPE AT TARGET LAUNCHES 9.9.12 AT A TARGET NEAR YOU!!

Alite Pop Up Shop and Party!

We don't know about you, but we take our leisure very seriously. We find it necessary and helpful (and productive even) to drop everything every now and again and head out in search of sunburns, grass stains, a campfire, a swimming hole, and an insect bite or two. And whenever we do these things we are invariable accompanied by something made by the wonderful geniuses at Alite. We're always looking for the next excuse to bust out our "Sexy Hotness" sleeping bags, or our "In-Law Outlaw" tent...so we figured it would be fun to offer up some of their magnificent merchandise at the Curiosity Shoppe! Beginning this Friday, July 27th, our gallery space will be home to a wonderful assortment of Alite wares, from backpacks to monopods to chairs to utensils, PLUS they've even designed some very special, limited-edition outdoor games! Just for us! And for you!! We can't wait!! Come celebrate the opening!!

WHAT: Alite Designs Pop Up Shop
WHEN: Opening celebration Friday, July 27th, 6-9pm

All My Friends Are Still Dead

HA! HA! HA! We're already laughing and we're still a few days away from having Jory and Avery at the Shoppe. And you'll be laughing too if you join us this Saturday, when these guys will be hanging out, shootin' the breeze, telling funny and inappropriate and maybe half-true stories to each other and anyone else within earshot. Last time they came over they brought Death with them (surprisingly nice guy), and a giant cardboard dinosaur (pretty quiet), and cookies (with just a hint of lemon). Which reminds us that there is actually a reason they are coming over (though there needn't be one...) Jory and Avery will be signing their newest blockbuster book, All My Friends Are Still Dead. So come say hello and eat some snacks, and sip some wine. There will most likely be some ridiculous feats of strength, or nonsensical contests, or impromptu juggling, or at least some amateurish magic tricks. A good time, guaranteed.

WHAT: All My Friends Are Still Dead booksigning and shenanigans
WHEN: Saturday, July 21st, noon-5pm.
WHERE: The Curiosity Shoppe, 855 Valenia Street, San Francisco

See you there!!!

Knot Thread Stitch Book Launch Party on Saturday!

Another book by one of our wildly talented and creative friends has just come out, and we're happy to be hosting a little soiree this Saturday to celebrate the launch of Knot Thread Stitch with author and artist Lisa Solomon.

We first met Lisa when we moved to San Francisco in 2006, and saw some of her work in a group show at the Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek. (I think it was the mended rifle targets, which are still some of my favorites.) We were about to launch our online shoppe, and got in touch with her to see if she might want to contribute any pieces to our gallery page. Lucky for us, she agreed!

Mended Target by Lisa Solomon, 2006

After visiting her studio, we realized that not only was she a talented mixed media artist (and possibly the sweetest person ever), but that she was a photographer, painter and graphic designer as well. And a teacher, too!

Congratulations to Lisa and all her amazing collaborators (including artists Lisa Congdon and Kate Bingaman Burt, as well as photographer Andrew Paynter) on this beautiful book.

Hope you can join us this Saturday, July 14th from 5-7pm at the shoppe to celebrate!
We're at 855 Valencia Street (between 19th and 20th) in San Francisco.
